I am trying to get rid of the grass in my backyard and make a garden. Can I just put down landscape paper?

I want to cover it all with mulch I but I wasn’t sure if I could put the whole works over my existing grass to kill it. i’d love to know an EASY way, my grass allergies are killing me!!

    Use Roundup. It kills the grass but doesn’t affect the soil. So you can plant after the grass dies.

    Use a tiller, that will break up the ground and make for easy planting of a garden.

    yea, you can. I did that for my children’s play area. First you will need to mow it really low then put down the weed barrier and follow up by mulching heavily on top. Occasionally you will find some grass trying to creep in but all you will need to do is pluck it out. Good Luck.

    yes but eventually the grass will start to slowly come up out of the mulch seeing as the previous house owners did that and now we have to re-landscape the side of my house lol…but Good Luck!!!

    Spray it with glyphosate (round up) at the labeled rate for perennial grass.

    you could rent a machine that will strip the sod and possibly sell the sod to a landscaper…

    no, you will want to spray it with round-up first, otherwise the grass will come up through your garden

    I would rent a sod cutter and remove the sod. This is the best way but the most work.
