Want to use mulch/wood chips in landscaping, but very concerned about it being harmful to dogs?

backyard landscaping
CGH asked:

I know that a lot of the wood chips/mulching is color treated, some have a bug repellent on them too. They may also contain some sort of anti fungal spray.
How can I use something like the pretty reddish wood chips in my backyard landscaping without risking my dogs health??

When using wood chip mulch around your dogs you should only use non treated and non dyed material.
Get some from a tree service that does not dye or treat it.

Wet cedar mulch is not good for your dog , white pine is good depending on how big an area use the stuff packaged for pet use , I think if you want it reddish your options are limited , try red lava stone “gravel” instead.

If you use natural cedar ships - they will have a mottle effect of the red and white woods together - but are safe for dogs (some places use cedar as bedding) and cedar natural repeals many insects.

the only mulch i could find, not to use around dogs is the cocoa bean mulch.

I have two dogs and a cat, and a back yard full of wood chips. There is not problem with them eating it at all.

They know that they cant eat it.
