Backyard Landscape Cost?
metsfan259 asked:
I’ve been working on my parents backyard. It is about 60 feet by 35, and I was wondering what you guys thought I should ask from them. Just to give you an idea of what I have been and will be doing. First, I took down the fence that was surrounding the property. I cut the boards and roped them together for bulk pick up. The lawn was filled with overgrown grass and weeds. I weed wacked it and took a rototiller to get all the grass up. The yard is now bare of any grass. My next project is to flaten the dirt and place top soil on it. Then plant the seed and all the other stuff I need to do to get grass to grow. What do you think is a fair price, and how much do you think a contractor would charge my parents? Thanks.
I’m 19 - I’m gonna be saving them a lot of money, and I only want the money for something school related….I was thinking of an LSAT prep class which is $1300.
I don’t see what’s so unfair about me asking to be paid - I forgot to mention how they were the ones that offered to pay me! For goodness sake, you people make me out to be so ungrateful. Of course, I would not charge a lot, but at the same time, asking for a little bit of money is not ridiculous.

They raised you. This is the least you can do. Do it out of the goodness of your heart. Unless of course you’re in your teens. In which case, your parents should voluntarily give you what they feel is sufficient.
just tell them you dont want anything at the moment, but you are sure you are going to need some help with school necessities soon and to keep that in mind.
you cant charge them what a landscaper would have, for one you are not a pro and for 2 you are their son!
example… i will soon be doing my fathers roof. when asked what i was going to charge, i told him 150 should cover the beer .
I’m 56 and never charged my folks for anything at any time. I was fed, roomed, clothed, and loved. Seems like a fair trade to me. But they’ll probably give you something anyway.
